You definitely do not need a full day at Typhoon Lagoon if you just want to experience what it has to offer and take an hour or two to relax. You can easily experience the entire park in a few hours if you arrive at open.

Everything is more spread out, so you'd be caught longer in the rain. Based on the usual summer forecast, we'd recommend a plan that includes visiting Animal Kingdom in the morning and EPCOT in the afternoon. Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios each have a fair amount of indoor attractions.
That said, don't expect Magic Kingdom or Disney Springs to be ghost towns just because of a few rain showers. Many guests will simply take their fun inside instead by going on some dark rides, seeing a show or getting something to eat.
