What happens if you accidentally tap your credit card PRESTO?
“A payment card will only be charged once in a two-hour window. Should a customer accidentally tap the payment card they used to board a TTC subway, streetcar or bus, the PRESTO device would read it as a transfer, and there would be no additional charge to the customer.”
Missed Tap Off CostIf you don't have a default set on your card and you forget to tap off at the end of your trip, you'll be charged the fare to the last stop on the train line or bus route and with your fare type and any applicable loyalty discounts applied.
To perform a tap-out, you tap your co-player's arm or another convenient part of their body twice, and repeat this action as many times and as hard as you need to get their attention. (Typically, once and quite softly is enough).
There isn't a daily limit for contactless payments. However, from time to time, when you shop using contactless payments, you'll need to put your card into the machine and enter your PIN to verify it's you, before you can use contactless again.
Each time you insert or tap your card at a chip or contactless-enabled terminal, encrypted card data is sent to the terminal to process your transaction. This technology better protects you against counterfeit card fraud, and gives you a more secure experience during your transaction.
