What happens if you lose something at Disney?

Report Lost and Unclaimed Items Once you've reported a lost or unclaimed item, you'll receive an email notification from Chargerback with your lost item report number. Chargerback will provide information from your report to the Disneyland Resort so that we can look for your item and return it to you if it is found.

If you lose an item at Walt Disney World, you no longer go to a physical "Lost and Found" window as your first step. Instead, you must fill out an online report via DisneyWorld.com/LostAndFound (which uses the Chargerback system). You provide a detailed description of the item, where you think you lost it, and the date. Once submitted, you receive a claim number, and Disney’s team will search for your item for up to 30 days. If your item is found, they will email you to confirm. You can then choose to pick it up at the Lost and Found center (located near the Transportation and Ticket Center) or have it shipped back to your home at your own expense. For 2026, Disney is very efficient at this; items found on rides are usually logged into the system within 24 hours. If you lose something valuable like a phone or wallet, it is still worth checking with the nearest "Guest Relations" booth immediately, as they sometimes hold items for a few hours before sending them to the central hub.

Losing something at Disney can be stressful, but Disney has a very organized and helpful Lost & Found system. Here’s what typically happens and what you should do:

Immediate Steps to Take:

  1. Retrace Your Steps: If you realize you lost something recently, go back to the last place you remember having it. Check with nearby Cast Members.
  2. Report It to a Cast Member: Any employee can help you file a lost item report. They’ll ask for a description and your contact info.
  3. Visit the Park’s Lost & Found: Each Disney park has a main Lost & Found location, usually near the entrance. - Magic Kingdom: City Hall - Epcot: Guest Relations at the front - Hollywood Studios: Guest Relations at the entrance - Animal Kingdom: Guest Relations at the entrance - Disney Springs: Guest Relations

If You’ve Already Left the Park:

  • Call Disney Lost & Found: For Walt Disney World in Florida, call (407) 824-4245. For Disneyland in California, call (714) 817-2166.
  • Submit an Online Report: You can file a detailed report on the Disney website or app. They’ll contact you if it’s found.
  • Check Back: Items are often turned in hours or even days later, as they may be sent to a central Lost & Found.

How Disney Handles Lost Items:

  • Centralized System: Items found in parks, resorts, or transportation are sent to a central Lost & Found (at Disney World, it’s at Disney Springs).
  • Holding Period: Items are typically held for 30 days. Valuable items (phones, wallets, cameras) are secured separately.
  • Return Process: If found, Disney can ship the item to you (you’ll pay for shipping). For non-valuables, they may hold it for pickup.

Tips to Improve Your Chances:

  • Act Quickly: Report the loss as soon as possible.
  • Be Specific: Provide detailed descriptions (brand, color, unique features).
  • Label Your Stuff: Put your name/phone number on items (like phone cases, water bottles, or bags).
  • Use Tracking Devices: For valuables like phones or keys, use Find My iPhone
