Specifically, Disneyland Resort in California donates its unclaimed items to Goodwill of Orange County, which then resells them in its thrift stores to fund community programs. Walt Disney World in Florida has similar donation pipelines. Occasionally, "Cast Member only" sales are held behind the scenes where employees can purchase unclaimed items at a significant discount, but for the general tourist, the only way to "buy" a lost Disney item is to visit a local charity shop where the donations eventually end up.
