If you miss your designated return window for a Lightning Lane entry (formerly part of the Genie+ system, now often referred under the Lightning Lane Multi Pass branding in 2026), the digital pass will technically expire and disappear from your "My Day" itinerary in the My Disney Experience app. However, Disney cast members at the attraction entrance often grant a "grace period" of approximately 15 minutes past the expiration time to account for transportation delays or long restroom breaks. If you arrive significantly later than that, the scanner will turn blue, and entry is generally at the discretion of the staff. In most cases, if you miss a window entirely, you are allowed to book a new Lightning Lane for that same attraction later in the day, provided there is still inventory available. This is a change from older systems where a missed slot might "lock" that ride for the rest of the day. To avoid losing a selection, you can also modify your arrival time within the app before the window expires, allowing you to push your reservation to a later slot if your plans change or if you are stuck at a dining reservation.
