Connecting Flight Delay
If you miss your link due to a flight delay, it is the airline's fault. Thus, during such cases, Emirates will rebook you on their next available flight. However, if this next flight happens to be the following morning, the airline has a solution to this too.

Below you can find the minimum time needed for connecting flights in Dubai International Airport. Between domestic flights: 20 min. Between domestic and international flights: 60 min. Between international flights: 60 min.

You need to be at the boarding gate at least 45 minutes before the departure of your connecting flight. If you don't have a UAE visa, the scheduled departure of the connecting flight needs to be within 24 hours of your arrival in Dubai. Without a UAE visa, you won't be allowed to leave the airport.

Not familiar with any airport in Dubai, but as long as you checked your baggage to the final destination at your departure point (i.e. you will not take baggage in Dubai and re-check it again) 2 hours should be plenty of time to transfer between flights, even if they are on different terminals.

Can I leave the airport during a layover in Dubai? The short answer is yes, but there are a few catches, and it will all depend on how long you have between flights. For example, if you've just got a few hours between flights, then it's definitely not worth leaving the airport.
