At Universal Studios (including the Orlando, Hollywood, and Japan locations), the general policy is that if you are already in the physical queue for a ride when the park officially closes, you will be allowed to ride. The park staff will usually close the entrance to the line at the exact minute of closing (e.g., 9:00 PM), but they will continue to cycle the attraction until every guest who was already waiting has had their turn. This is why you will often see "posted wait times" still active right at closing; for example, if a ride has a 60-minute wait at 8:59 PM, the ride will likely continue running until 10:00 PM to clear the line. It is a common strategy for savvy guests to jump into the line for the most popular attractions just minutes before closing to maximize their day. Note that this policy usually does not apply to outdoor shows or specific character meet-and-greets, which may have set end times. Additionally, if an attraction experiences a mechanical breakdown right at or after closing, the staff may be forced to clear the line without guests riding, though they often provide "readmission" passes for the following day in such rare cases.
