Vernazza: Located to the north of the Cinque Terre, Vernazza is probably the most beautiful and picturesque fishing village of Cinque Terre, where its colourful houses hang above the sea level on rugged cliffs. By Train. Monterosso has its own train station and can be reached from either La Spezia or Levanto. From La Spezia, take the local train (treno regionale) in the direction of Sestri Levante and get off at the Monterosso stop. From Levanto, take the regional train in the direction of La Spezia Centrale.

Cost. Visiting Cinque Terre should be cheaper than the Amalfi Coast. Of course, so much depends on your choices – how you travel around, where and how long you stay, which restaurants you dine at, etc. But in general, the Amalfi Coast is a much more expensive destination than Cinque Terre.
The Sciacchetrà wineOver the last years the Cinque Terre wine Sciacchetrà has become famous in the whole world. It's a passito, a dessert wine, its “formula” has probably very old roots. At the beginning of the grape harvest the winegrower carefully selects the most beautiful bunches of grapes among his fields.
The key staple here is anchovies (acciughe; ah-CHOO-gay) — ideally served the day they're caught. There's nothing cool about being an anchovy virgin. If you've always hated anchovies (the harsh, cured-in-salt American kind), try them fresh here.
