What is not allowed in Universal Studios Hollywood?

Prohibited items are alcohol, marijuana, glass containers, open containers, large coolers of food, hard-sided coolers, soft-sided coolers larger than 8.5” wide x 6” high x 6” deep, and any coolers, suitcases or bags with wheels.



Universal Studios Hollywood has strict security protocols to ensure guest safety, and several items are strictly prohibited. You cannot bring in weapons of any kind, including pocket knives, mace, or pepper spray, nor can you bring in "look-alike" weapons like toy guns or swords. Alcohol and illegal substances (including marijuana) are banned. Regarding food and storage, hard-sided coolers, large suitcases, and bags with wheels are not permitted. While small snacks and bottled water are allowed, large picnic meals are discouraged. Additionally, professional photography equipment (like tripods or drones) is restricted without prior permit. For safety on the attractions, items like selfie sticks are banned from being used on rides. Clothing that is offensive or could be mistaken for official park uniform or security attire is also against the rules. Finally, pets are not allowed, with the exception of trained service animals that meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

For most of the rides, you'll likely be able to just leave the bag around your waist, but for the ones that have a lap bar or over the shoulder harness that would make that uncomfortable, you'll be able to either keep your bag in a small storage area or just down at your feet.
