I recommend that you either wear layers or be prepared to buy an extra layer. There are TONS of merchandise shops at the parks where you can do so. During all times of year, the best shoes for Universal Studios are comfortable walking shoes, and that generally means supportive sneakers with socks.
and if you want to go on rides closed toe shoes or shoes that wrap around your ankle would be best. like sandals with a backstrap to keep it on your foot. also shoes that have something to secure them to your foot. no flats.
One of our top tips for what to wear to Universal Studios, especially in Orlando is lightweight clothing and have an option to add layers. Florida is hot and humid outside and inside you'll be in air conditioning, so having a lightweight sweatshirt is ideal for waiting inside in lines as well as in the evenings.
A firm fitting buckled up sandal strapped around the ankle would be allowed. The most rejected are footwear that can come loose like flip flops and slip ons. Helpful? If you wear sandals, it's wise to take them off before any of the death defying rides.
A lot of people just take them off and sit on them during the ride. You can usually put your flip flops off to the side or some people sit on them where there is a danger of them flying off - the ones where your feet dangle - but not an issue on something like Rock N Roller Coaster.
Water Wear – A spare bathing suit and towel for your day at Volcano Bay (again, accidents and rips happen). And a bathing suit under clothes or extra set of Dri-Fit clothing to wear on water rides or water areas at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure.
Most of these rides allow you to safely store items that can fit in your pocket or a small fanny pack that can tuck under your shirt. However, all other large items (purses, camera bags, backpacks, etc.)must go inside the ride locker.
For this reason, we typically recommend you plan to bring a fanny pack, so you can skip these lockers! For guests who only have fanny packs, you must move the fanny pack around your waist (so no wearing it as a sling bag), but once it's firmly around your waist, you can hop on most rides with it.
