What is so special about the Disney Wish?

Awash in immersive show scenes, music, lighting and special effects, this fun-filled water experience invites Disney fans to glide up, down, around and off the side of the ship through 760 feet of twisting tubes—providing breathtaking views of the ocean—before splashing down into a lazy river.

The Disney Wish, which debuted in 2022 as the fifth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, is considered "special" because it represented a massive technological and aesthetic shift for the brand, known as the "Motif of Enchantment." It was the first Disney ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), significantly reducing its environmental footprint. Architecturally, it features a Grand Hall inspired by a fairy-tale castle, complete with the first-ever atrium stage for live performances. What truly sets it apart is the integration of "storytelling" into every corner: it hosts the AquaMouse, Disney's first-ever "attraction at sea" which incorporates animated screens and music into a water coaster. Additionally, it features highly immersive dining experiences like Worlds of Marvel, where guests participate in an interactive Avengers mission, and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure. For adults, the ship introduced the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, a high-end bar that uses digital "windows" to show various planets in the galaxy far, far away. The Wish serves as the blueprint for the newer "Triton Class" ships, blending classic luxury with cutting-edge digital immersion.

Decks 4 and 5 Deck 4 has always been my favorite spot on Disney ships. Comfy deck chairs, shuffleboard, shade (it's located under the lifeboats) and a great view. Every cruise I try to spend at least an hour just relaxing out there. I'm very happy to say the Disney Wish retains Deck 4.

The private deck on Disney Wish was nice, too. I'd 100% book Disney concierge level again and would say it can be worth it — mostly on the shorter cruises where every minute matters more than it would on a seven- to 10-day cruise.
