What is the best time to go to Palm Cove?

If you want to avoid the wet, be sure to travel during the dry season from April to November: the town is sleepier during November to March; the weather is balmy enough to enjoy a swim in the pool; and the sun still makes an appearance in between downpours.

The best time to visit Palm Cove in Tropical North Queensland is during the "Dry Season," which runs from May to October. During these months, the weather is nearly perfect, with daily temperatures averaging 26°C (79°F) and very low humidity. This period also falls outside of the "Stinger Season" (jellyfish season), meaning you can typically swim in the ocean without the need for protective lycra suits, though swimming inside the patrolled stinger nets is still recommended. The "Wet Season" (November to April) is characterized by high humidity, heavy tropical downpours, and the risk of cyclones. While the landscape is lush and green during the wet season, the heat can be oppressive for those not used to the tropics. For the absolute best experience, aim for June through August; not only is the weather ideal, but it is also the peak time for whale watching in the Great Barrier Reef, providing an extra layer of adventure to your stay.
