The colorful, neon-lit arch at the entrance of Kabukicho's main street, Ichibangai-dori, is easily spotted and one of the area's famous landmarks. The street leading to the Seibu Shinjuku Station offers many restaurants and bars and is a very popular spot among international tourists, too.



The most famous and iconic thoroughfare in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, is Central Road (often called "Godzilla Street" or Chuo-dori). This is the wide, neon-lit pedestrian street that leads directly toward the massive, fire-breathing Godzilla head atop the Toho Building. It is the heart of Tokyo's entertainment district and is home to the famous "Robot Restaurant" (though its status fluctuates) and various themed cafes. Another legendary spot is Golden Gai, a network of six narrow alleys filled with over 200 tiny, historic bars that preserve the atmosphere of post-war Tokyo. While Central Road is the bright, tourist-heavy face of the district, the intersecting Sakura-dori is also well-known for its vibrant nightlife, though it requires more caution due to the high density of street touts.
