What is the new cruise ship out of Miami?

Icon of the Seas will visit Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, as well as Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. According to Royal Caribbean, when Icon of the Seas sets sail on Jan. 27, 2024, it will become the largest cruise ship in the world.

The biggest "new" cruise ship sailing out of Miami in 2026 is Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas, which officially debuted in late 2025 as the second "Icon-class" vessel. Following the record-breaking success of its sister ship, Icon of the Seas, the Star of the Seas is a 250,000-ton "mega-resort" featuring 20 decks and 40 different restaurants and bars. Its most famous feature is Category 6, the largest water park at sea, which includes six record-breaking slides and the "Crown's Edge" thrill walk. It also features the signature AquaDome, a high-tech entertainment hub with a 55-foot waterfall that serves as a backdrop for high-diving and aerial shows. Sailing 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, it has transformed the PortMiami skyline with its colorful hull and massive scale. In 2026, it is the primary competitor for other new Miami-based ships like Carnival's Celebration and the newest Virgin Voyages ships, offering a "city-at-sea" experience that focuses heavily on high-tech sustainability, including being powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) to significantly reduce its environmental footprint.
