The smallest of the three waterfalls that make up the Niagara Falls complex is the Bridal Veil Falls. While most people only recognize the massive, curved Horseshoe Falls (on the Canadian side) and the straight American Falls (on the U.S. side), the Bridal Veil Falls is a distinct, smaller drop located entirely within New York State. It is separated from the American Falls by a small piece of land called Luna Island and from the Horseshoe Falls by Goat Island. The Bridal Veil Falls has a vertical drop of approximately 181 feet (55 meters), similar in height to its neighbors, but it is significantly narrower, measuring only about 50 feet (15 meters) across. Despite its smaller scale, it is a fan favorite because it is the site of the Cave of the Winds attraction, where guests can walk along wooden decks just a few feet away from the base of the thundering water. This proximity provides a sense of power and spray that is often more visceral than viewing the larger falls from a distance, making it a "must-see" part of the Niagara experience.
