Out of all the beaches in Lake Tahoe, Sand Harbor in my favorite. It is one of the most picturesque beaches I have ever seen, with crystal clear water, beautiful coves and strange rock formations. The beach is located in the Nevada State Park, close to Incline Village, in North Lake Tahoe.

The high elevation of the lake makes physical exertion more difficult also. Swimming in the morning hours with a wet suit is recommended if you plan on that long of a swim away from shore.

Pope BeachThis wide, well-shaded ¾ mile-long stretch of sand is a perfect spot to barbecue, picnic, or even take a dip in the shallow waters. It's also considered the longest beach in Lake Tahoe and provides a vast assortment of amenities like rentals for kayaks, paddleboards, and jet skis.
Lake Tahoe in the summer is a completely different feel than in the winter. The summer lake activities are endless and make for a great week of vacation. Some of my favorite spots (in no particular order) are South Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay, Cave Rock, Secret Cove, Sand Harbor and Kings Beach.
In June and early July, water temperatures may still be too cold for some distance swimmers with water temperatures when water temperatures can be below 60ºF/15.8ºC. By mid-July, the longer, warmer days help warm the surface temperature of the lake to the mid-60's (17º-20ºC).
Since there is so much to do in South Lake Tahoe on or near the water, this area can be the best part of Lake Tahoe to visit in the summer (think long sandy beaches, fantastic hiking trails, and water sports).
