What ride should you ride first in Hollywood studios?

As for ride strategy, you need to start tackling any major rides you haven't done yet—Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash being the priorities. All waits will drop as the evening wears on, but these will be highest and drop the least. Don't delay these hoping for “short” waits later, it might just not happen.

In 2026, the best strategy for Hollywood Studios depends on whether you have "Early Entry" (for Disney hotel guests). If you have Early Entry, your first target should be Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, as its standby wait time often exceeds 120 minutes by mid-morning. If you do not have Early Entry, the "smart" first ride is Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway or Slinky Dog Dash. Slinky Dog Dash is notorious for having the most consistent long lines throughout the day, so "rope-dropping" it is a top priority for families. Alternatively, if you are a thrill-seeker and want to avoid the crowds, heading to Twilight Zone Tower of Terror first is a great move, as most of the "herd" will be sprinting toward Galaxy’s Edge or Toy Story Land, often leaving the Sunset Boulevard attractions with minimal waits for the first 30 minutes of the day. Using the "My Disney Experience" app to check live wait times at 8:55 AM is essential.

At Hollywood Studios, things are a little bit backward. The worst day of the week to visit has historically been Monday! Perhaps it's because people expect the weekends to be the busiest, so they go with a weekday instead. Nonetheless, Monday wait times might be a bit higher than you'd want.

Rise of the Resistance can be scary at times for kids, even ones who love Star Wars. The interactions with Kylo Ren, Stormtroopers, and the First Order can be a bit intimidating. The ride itself can also be too much for some children, since some areas of the ride are dark and there is even a drop.

TRON does move up and down a fair bit, but there's very little of that “stomach-drop” feeling with your feet leaving the floor. That's for two reasons. The first is that on a Lightcycle your head points down, not your feet. But the bigger reason is that almost all of TRON's rise-and-drop motion includes a turn.
