What time are cabins ready on Disney Cruise?

Staterooms are typically ready around 1:30 p.m. on the day of your voyage. Luggage may not arrive for a few hours afterward, so I recommend that you bring a swimsuit and coverup in a carry-on bag if you'd like to enjoy the pools onboard shortly after boarding.

On embarkation day, Disney Cruise Line staterooms are typically ready between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM. While you can board the ship much earlier depending on your assigned Port Arrival Time, the stateroom hallways are often cordoned off to allow the custodial teams to finish cleaning. During this "waiting period," guests are encouraged to head to the upper decks for a buffet lunch at Cabanas (or Marceline Market on the Wish and Treasure), explore the youth clubs during Open House hours, or even jump in the pools. It is highly recommended to keep your swimsuits, medications, and important documents in your carry-on bag, as your checked luggage may not be delivered to your cabin door until late in the afternoon or early evening. Once an announcement is made over the PA system, you can head to your room to settle in before the mandatory Assembly Drill.

The best time to board a cruise ship is obviously when there are few lines and short waits. The trick is knowing when that will be. Unfortunately, it can vary from port to port and ship to ship, but I prefer arriving in the early afternoon, usually around 1 or 2 p.m.

We have arrived up to fifteen minutes late to the rotational dining rooms and we were still seated. I wouldn't recommend arriving much later than that so you can enjoy the meal!

One sure-fire way to muck up your embarkation day is by smuggling illegal substances or going over your allotted amount of carry-on alcohol. Embarkation day will be much more peaceful if you don't get busted by ship's security. Whether it's drugs, alcohol or a clothing iron -- leave it at home.

Many first-time cruisers don't realize that they won't be able to go directly to their staterooms upon boarding. Pass the time while you wait for your room to be ready and for the ship to set sail by enjoying lunch on the Lido Deck of the ship. This is a great way to make sure you aren't starving by dinner time!

While the check-in process is pretty straightforward, there are a couple steps that you have to take prior to being let on the ship, including checking your travel documents and going through security.
