The waterpark at Kings Island, currently known as Soak City, originally opened in 1989 under the name WaterWorks. At its debut, the waterpark occupied 12 acres and featured 15 water slides and a lazy river. Over the decades, it has undergone several massive expansions and identity shifts. In 2004, it was rebranded as Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay during the era when Paramount owned the park, adopting an Australian outback theme. After Cedar Fair acquired the park, the waterpark was significantly expanded and rebranded again in 2012 as Soak City. This renovation nearly doubled the size of the waterpark and added a second wave pool. Today, it spans 35 acres and is included with the price of admission to the main amusement park, featuring over 50 water attractions including "Tropical Plunge" and "Tidal Wave Bay," maintaining its status as one of the premier water destinations in the Midwest.
