When did they start selling alcohol at Magic Kingdom?

In 2012 Magic Kingdom began allowing the sale of alcohol in the park. Originally, Walt Disney did not want alcohol sold in the parks, but many embraced this change.

Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World was famously "dry" for 41 years, reflecting Walt Disney's personal belief that alcohol had no place in a family-centric theme park. This policy officially changed on September 14, 2012, with the opening of the Be Our Guest restaurant in the newly expanded New Fantasyland. Initially, beer and wine were only served during dinner service to complement the French-themed menu. The policy proved successful and was gradually expanded; by 2018, all table-service restaurants in Magic Kingdom began offering alcoholic beverages during both lunch and dinner. In 2026, you can now find a curated selection of beer, wine, and even specialty cocktails at locations like Cinderella’s Royal Table, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen. However, the park still maintains a strict "no walk-around" policy—unlike EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, alcohol in Magic Kingdom must be consumed inside the restaurant where it was purchased and is not available at quick-service kiosks or carts.
