When was Big Splash Tulsa built?

Throwback Tulsa: Big Splash water park opens on this day in 1984. 39 years ago today, on May 26, 1984, the water park that would eventually become Safari Joe's H2O opened as Big Splash at 21st Street and Yale Avenue.

Big Splash Water Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was built and officially opened to the public on May 26, 1984. Located at 21st Street and Yale Avenue near the Expo Square, it became a staple of Tulsa summers for over three decades. The park was famous for its "Silver Bullet" speed slide and the "Master Blaster" water coaster. In 2016, the park underwent a significant transformation and was rebranded as Safari Joe's H2O Water Park after being purchased by Joe Estridge. The new ownership integrated exotic animal exhibits and updated attractions into the existing water park infrastructure. Despite the rebranding and modern upgrades, the original 1984 footprint remains the foundation of what is still considered one of Oklahoma's most iconic and enduring family-friendly water attractions.
