Where can I hide from rain at Disneyland?

New Orleans Square offers two indoor rides where you an escape the Disneyland rain. The Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion are guest favorites and include a nice dry place to sit. The New Orleans shops are also great for staying dry.

When the central Florida or California rains hit in 2026, the best strategy is to head for indoor attractions with large, covered queues. At Disneyland Park (California), Pirates of the Caribbean and it’s a small world offer long, indoor experiences that keep you dry for 15–20 minutes at a time. For a longer break, Mickey’s PhilharMagic or the Star Wars Launch Bay provide expansive air-conditioned (or heated) shelter. If you are near the resorts, jumping on the Monorail for a loop is a professional way to stay dry while resting your feet. Many guests also use rain as an opportunity for "Fine Dining," ducking into the Blue Bayou or Carthay Circle where you can wait out the storm in an immersive, indoor environment. A pro tip for 2026: if a thunderstorm is looming, avoid the outdoor "spinner" rides like Dumbo or Mad Tea Party, which will close immediately, and instead head to the shops on Main Street, which are all interconnected under a continuous roof.

You won't see princesses around the Disneyland entrance or Goofy ambling down the street in the rain. While the pre-planned character meet-and-greets will still be happening, don't plan on seeing characters just walking around. It does take away a little of the magic (probably mostly for ME!)

Rain boots make the most amount of sense for a rainy day. But at least in my experience, rain boots aren't comfortable. Especially for all the walking you will be doing for a day wandering around the Park. So instead I suggest a pair of boots that will be able to be worn for more than just the rain.

Most attractions will still run in the rain and characters have lots of clever spots to keep dry and continue to meet Guests. Bring an umbrella and if you have a stroller, an extra poncho or a rain cover will be necessary to keep it dry when you park it.
