At Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), passenger pick-up is very straightforward. The key is to use the curbside on the terminal’s Departures Level (Level 3), not the Arrivals Level.
Here’s a step-by-step guide:
1. The Best Practice: Pick-Up on the Departures Level (Level 3)
- Why? The Departures Level is less congested than Arrivals. Passengers can easily take an elevator or escalator up one floor after collecting their bags.
- Directions: Drive to the Terminal (there’s only one main terminal building) and follow signs for “Departures”. You will pull up to the curbside under the large canopy. Look for the airline check-in desks to confirm you’re in the right place.
2. Traditional Pick-Up on the Arrivals Level (Level 2)
- This is the designated baggage claim and ground transportation level. It can be very busy, and active waiting is not allowed. Airport police are strict about vehicles circling or idling.
- Cell Phone Waiting Lots are provided for this reason (see below).
3. Crucial Rule: No Waiting or Idling at the Curb
- If your passenger isn’t outside and ready, you must use the free Cell Phone Waiting Lots. Do not circle the airport or idle at the curb—you will be asked to move and may be cited.
4. Use the FREE Cell Phone Waiting Lots
- These are free, designated parking areas where you can wait until your passenger has their bags and is curbside.
