Where does Disney own land in North Carolina?

An affiliate of Walt Disney has bought land in the T5 Kings Mountain data center park in North Carolina, where local officials have been working to line up incentives for a mystery prospect, according to local media.

Disney does not own a theme park in North Carolina, but through its Storyliving by Disney division, the company is developing a massive residential community called Asteria. Located in Pittsboro, North Carolina (within Chatham County), this project is part of the larger Chatham Park master-planned development. The site is strategically positioned near the "Research Triangle" cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. The Asteria community is designed to span approximately 1,500 acres and will eventually feature over 4,000 residential units, including single-family homes and multi-family dwellings specifically designed for adults aged 55+. While Disney Imagineers are leading the creative vision and "storytelling" aspects of the neighborhood—incorporating local North Carolina flora and history—the actual land development and home construction are handled by third-party builders. In 2026, the project is in active development, with home sales expected to begin in 2027. This marks Disney's second Storyliving venture, following the Cotino community in California, and represents their major footprint in the Blue Ridge region.
