Where does Pride of America stop in Maui?

The Pride of America arrives into Kahului, Maui around 8 am and departs around 6 pm the next day, so you are in Maui overnight. Staying overnight allows you to do some activities you would not normally have time to do. Kona is the only port where we cannot pick you up from the pier if you decide to rent a car.

The Pride of America, Norwegian Cruise Line's dedicated inter-island Hawaii ship, docks at Kahului Harbor on the island of Maui. In 2026, the ship's standard itinerary includes an overnight stay in Maui, typically arriving on Sunday morning and departing on Monday evening. This unique 34-hour stop allows passengers to explore the island extensively, including the sunrise at Haleakalā National Park, driving the legendary Road to Hana, or visiting the beaches of Wailea and Kaanapali. Kahului is the industrial and commercial heart of Maui, located on the north shore. While the harbor itself is not a "resort" area, its central location makes it the perfect hub for shore excursions. In 2026, NCL continues to offer shuttle services from the dock to nearby shopping centers and car rental hubs. Because the ship stays overnight, many guests choose to book a "Luau" or dinner in Lahaina or Kihei without worrying about getting back to the ship before sunset, making the Maui stop one of the highest-rated segments of the 7-day Hawaiian cruise.

With a few exceptions, cruise casinos are not open while ships are in port. They are generally limited to operating while the ship is in international waters. This is why Norwegian's Pride of America doesn't have a casino. Since the ship cruises exclusively in Hawaii, it never leaves U.S. waters.

The best place we can suggest is to check out the ship's bars after midnight. Here you'll find people that like to let loose and have a good time (but that doesn't necessarily mean they want to hook up). But just like on land, if you're looking for love, a late-night bar is the right place to look.

Midship cabins The big allure of a midship cabin is its stability. You won't feel the rocking of the sea in a midship cabin nearly as much as you will in a cabin toward the front or back of a vessel. This is because ships are like teeter-totters. They pitch forward and back around a central axis that barely moves.

Pride of America crew members are paid more, enjoy labor protections foreign workers do not, and turnover is higher, leading to increased cruise fares. Our total 7-night fare on the Pride of America was nearly double what we paid for a 15-night sailing on the Grand Princess round-trip to Hawaii from San Fransisco.
