As already discussed, usually for the biggest thrill I'd always say to ride in the back. Due to Expedition Everest's topsy turvy backwards section, what begins as the front becomes the back and I can honestly say that it's much more intense!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Quick FactsTip(s): The best time to ride is in the morning, before it gets busier in the afternoon. We recommend sitting in the back half of the train if you want to experience more speed as the front of the train can be slower.
The front seat offers the best view, of course and you get to see what's happening before the rest of your fellow riders do. You feel like you're leading the charge. Or go for the back seat because it offers more air time: your butt will hang in the air off your seat for much longer on those hills and drops.
After analyzing acceleration data, it was determined that the front row had the greatest negative acceleration in the z direction and was therefore the “best place” to sit. Most people who enjoy roller coasters have a favorite place to sit when riding, but no quantitative reasons for sitting there.
This depends on your definition of scary. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is pretty loud, quite fast, and more than a little bumpy. It's a (fun) wild ride! The ride also has tight turns, dips, and bumps, as well as 2 big drops.
Big Thunder MountainThis popular ride is fun for plus size guests thanks to the bench seating and lap bar! However, due to that one lap bar, you'll want to ride this one alone if you're concerned about your fellow rider needing to be fully secure.
While there is only one track available at Disneyland, there are actually two separate tracks on the Magic Kingdom ride. You can either choose to write Alpha or Omega. There's not that much of a difference except for the length for the ride. The Alpha track is stretched further, so the ride lasts a little bit longer.
Expedition Everest gets our vote for scariest roller coaster in Disney World. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Space Mountain both take place entirely in the dark, but even their surprises don't compare with what Expedition Everest brings to the table.
BTMRR is much bigger then Space Mountain. And if all were equal (darkness vs. light) BTMRR would be considered much more of a thrill ride. Being completley dark, you can't really gauge the next twist, turn or drop.
One of the best Magic Kingdom rides! Big Thunder Mountain is one of the most underrated WDW rides! The wait can get kind of long on busy days but if you time it right, you won't wait more than 30-40 minutes. My whole family loves this roller coaster, we make sure to ride it every time we are in Magic Kingdom.
In a typical coaster design, the riders in the front car get an unobstructed view of all these obstacles whipping past them. In a coaster that has seats facing backward, the rear car offers the best of both worlds -- you get a great view and the most intense ride.
People with high blood pressure and/or heart conditions are warned not to ride roller coasters because of the way they tax the cardiovascular system. The adrenaline rush that roller coasters give you causes a rapid spike in your heart rate and blood pressure.
