Which Edinburgh station does Lumo use?

Our most popular station is Edinburgh Waverley. Lumo runs five direct services a day from Edinburgh Waverley to all other destinations we operate to, including Newcastle Central Station and London King's Cross.

Lumo, the 100% electric low-cost rail operator, exclusively uses Edinburgh Waverley Station as its northern terminus. Located in the heart of the city between the Old Town and New Town, Waverley is a massive, high-value hub that provides immediate access to the Royal Mile and Princes Street. Because Lumo operates on the East Coast Main Line, its trains arrive and depart from the main through-platforms (often platforms 2 through 5). For 2026 travelers, it is important to note that Lumo does not stop at Edinburgh Haymarket, which is the city’s second-largest station. This "direct-to-Waverley" approach is part of Lumo's strategy to provide a high-speed, "one-stop" connection to London King’s Cross in roughly 4.5 hours. If you are staying in the west end of Edinburgh, you will need to take a short tram or local ScotRail hop from Haymarket to Waverley to board your Lumo service.
