Which is better Salou or Benidorm?

Whilst I love Benidorm, Salou is much more chilled out and a bit more family orientated. Salou is more of a chill out holiday for us. Benidorm will be full of stags hens in April/May so Salou may be the better choice for your little one that time of year, although a few degrees cooler than the Costa Blanca.

Choosing between Salou and Benidorm for a 2026 holiday depends on whether you want a family-centric theme park vibe or a classic, high-energy entertainment hub. Salou (Costa Dorada) is the "Family King," primarily because it is home to PortAventura World, one of Europe’s largest theme parks and Ferrari Land. Its beaches, like Llevant, are vast and sandy with calm, shallow waters perfect for children. In contrast, Benidorm (Costa Blanca) is the "Entertainment Capital," famous for its iconic skyscraper skyline, massive nightlife scene, and the Benidorm Palace cabaret. While Benidorm also has great beaches (Levante and Poniente), it attracts a more diverse crowd, from "stag and hen" parties to senior travelers looking for winter sun. Salou feels more like a relaxed, Mediterranean resort town with a "local" Spanish feel, whereas Benidorm is a high-octane, purpose-built vacation machine that never sleeps. If your priority is rides and child-friendly activities, choose Salou; if you want world-class nightlife and a massive variety of affordable bars and shows, Benidorm is the clear winner.
