When comparing the California resorts, Disneyland Resort is bigger than Universal Studios Hollywood. Disneyland Resort covers approximately 486 acres and includes two theme parks (Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure), the Downtown Disney District, and three hotels. Universal Studios Hollywood is smaller, occupying roughly 415 acres, much of which is dedicated to the active film studio backlot rather than the actual theme park. However, if you compare the Florida counterparts, the scale is vastly different. Walt Disney World Resort is a massive 25,000-acre city (about the size of San Francisco), containing four theme parks and over 25 hotels. Universal Orlando Resort is significantly smaller at about 840 acres, though it is currently expanding with the addition of the "Epic Universe" park opening in 2025/2026. In short: in California, Disney is slightly larger; in Florida, Disney is nearly 30 times larger than Universal. For a tourist, this means Disneyland is much more "walkable" than the sprawling expanse of the Orlando parks.
