Parades and nighttime firework shows at Magic Kingdom are a definite must-see during a visit to Walt Disney World. They are extremely popular, which means they are also very frequently crowded. But – don't stress! We have tips to help you find the perfect spot to enjoy them.
Without a doubt, the biggest draw is the massive must-see Disney parades. However, clocking in at 15 minutes long or more from float to float, they're also the biggest time commitment, especially if you want to get a front-row seat in a good spot along the route.
On Sunday, Disney published a recording of the new Magic Happens parade, which debuted at Disneyland in February. The eight-minute performance is free to watch, and can be found on the Disney Parks YouTube channel.
It's worth noting that this time, Disney did not say the Main Street Electrical Parade was gone for good. It ended its “limited time run” on September 1, 2022. Firework shows happen nightly EXCEPT on nights when the park closes early (like for Mickey's-Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, or for select events like Cast Member appreciation nights). There really aren't any spots to eat and watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom.
As you can guess if Monday is the busiest, Tuesday tends to be the best day of the week to go to Magic Kingdom. We also find Thursday to be one of the least busy days of the week at Magic Kingdom, with Sunday being a great weekend option.
We find that the days closest to the weekends (Friday and Monday), as well as the weekends themselves, are the busiest days at Walt Disney World. Because Magic Kingdom is often the number one park on visitors' lists, they'll hit it first on their trip. If they arrive on a weekend, that makes it a Sunday or Monday!
Magic Kingdom has fireworks every night of the year. Most of the time they are free with your park admission. However, there are a few nights in the fall and winter where you'll need a special ticket.
The worst day of the week to visit has historically been Monday! Perhaps it's because people expect the weekends to be the busiest, so they go with a weekday instead. Nonetheless, Monday wait times might be a bit higher than you'd want.
Consequently, you can spend a full day in Animal Kingdom if you pace yourself to avoid the aforementioned animal fatigue. Nevertheless, Animal Kingdom is the easiest park to accomplish in a partial day; you can either arrive early or stay late at Animal Kingdom and do the entire park with relative ease.
