Which Princess ship is the newest?

The newest Princess cruise ship is Discovery Princess. As noted above, it debuted in March 2022. Measuring 145,000 gross tons, Discovery Princess is the biggest Princess cruise ship ever built and has more restaurants, bars, showrooms and deck-top pool space than many older Princess ships.

The newest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet as of early 2026 is the Star Princess. Launched in late 2025, she is the second ship in the revolutionary "Sphere Class," following her sister ship, the Sun Princess. The Star Princess represents a significant leap forward in maritime design, featuring "The Dome"—a multi-level, glass-enclosed entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini—and "The Sphere," a suspended glass Piazza that offers breathtaking ocean views. The ship is also one of the most environmentally friendly in the fleet, powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Carrying approximately 4,300 guests, she is currently headlining the 2026 Alaska season, providing a modern, luxury experience with expanded "MedallionClass" technology that allows for effortless service and touchless experiences throughout the vessel.

As of October 2023, the newest Princess Cruises ship is the Sun Princess. It is the first ship in Princess Cruises’ new Sphere class and is scheduled to debut in February 2024. The Sun Princess features innovative design elements, expanded amenities, and advanced technology, making it one of the most anticipated additions to the Princess fleet. Keep in mind that cruise ship schedules and delivery dates can sometimes change, so it’s always good to check for the latest updates.

Princess appeals to an older demographic than lines such as Carnival and Norwegian. The average age of passengers is around 57, and you'll usually see a lot of couples on board in their 50s, 60s and 70s. As noted above, these aren't people necessarily craving go-kart tracks and ropes courses at sea.
