As of February 2026, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai remains the undisputed tallest building in the world, standing at 828 meters (2,717 feet). While there is a global race to surpass this height, no currently completed structure is taller. The most prominent rival is the Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia, which is designed to reach over 1,000 meters. After a long hiatus, work officially resumed on the Jeddah Tower in early 2024, with its current height reaching roughly 264 meters as it moves toward its ultimate target. Another contender is the Rise Tower in Riyadh, a proposed 2,000-meter skyscraper that is currently in the design phase. Other megatall buildings like Merdeka 118 in Malaysia (679 meters) and the Shanghai Tower (632 meters) are impressive, but they remain significantly shorter than the Burj Khalifa. Consequently, until the Jeddah Tower or a similar project is completed, the Burj Khalifa retains its crown as the pinnacle of global architecture.
