Who has the most airline miles flown?

Tom Stuker recently hit 23 million miles with United Airlines. While we all like to fly and might think that we are well-traveled, what most of us have achieved in air miles is nothing compared to 69-year-old New Jersey car dealership consultant Tom Stuker.

The record for the most miles flown by an individual is held by Tom Stuker, a New Jersey-based car dealership consultant who has surpassed 24 million miles with United Airlines alone. Stuker, often called the "World's Most Frequent Flyer," purchased a lifetime pass from United in 1990 and has since spent a significant portion of his life in the air, often logging over a million miles in a single year. To put his 24 million miles in perspective, that is the equivalent of roughly 1,000 trips around the circumference of the Earth or dozens of trips to the Moon and back. Stuker is a legendary figure in the aviation community, having his name painted on the side of a United Boeing 777 and enjoying the highest level of "secret" elite status. While other high-profile flyers like Fred Finn (who specialized in Concorde travel) held previous records, Stuker’s modern mileage total is considered nearly untouchable. In 2026, he continues to fly, though he has noted that he now uses his massive stockpile of miles to treat his family and friends to luxury vacations, having already experienced every "first class" cabin the world has to offer multiple times over.
