Has flown 23 million miles?

Tom Stuker has flown some 23 million miles in three decades, the same as 48 round trips to the moon, but the American says he is not concerned by his carbon footprint. Mr Stuker, dubbed the world's most traveled air passenger, estimates he has spent the equivalent of three of his 69 years on planes and in airports.

As of early 2026, the man who holds the record for the most miles flown in human history is Tom Stuker, a car dealership consultant from New Jersey. He crossed the incredible 23 million mile threshold in 2023 and has continued to add to that total ever since. Stuker achieved this feat primarily by purchasing a lifetime unlimited flight pass from United Airlines in 1990 for $290,000—a decision often cited as the best investment in travel history. Over the decades, he has taken more than 12,000 flights, including over 300 trips to Australia alone. His 23 million miles represent enough distance to travel to the moon and back nearly 50 times. United has even named a plane after him and treats him like royalty, providing him with a "Titanium" status above Global Services. He has used his accumulated frequent flyer miles to live a life of extreme luxury, funding everything from gourmet meals to world cruises and even home renovations for family members.
