Windsor Castle is not just a palace but a functioning community of roughly 150 people. The most prominent residents are the King and Queen, who traditionally use the castle as a weekend home and for official residencies like "Easter Court." The "Apartments" within the castle grounds also house various members of the Royal Household and staff who facilitate the castle's operation. These include the Constable and Governor of Windsor Castle, the Dean of Windsor (and other clergy associated with St George's Chapel), and the Military Knights of Windsor, who are retired army officers rewarded for their service. In recent years, it has been widely reported that the Prince and Princess of Wales (William and Catherine) maintain a suite inside the castle, though their primary residence is Adelaide Cottage nearby on the Windsor Home Park estate. The apartments are generally not open to the public, as they serve as private dwellings for the "Castle Community."
