Who was born at Disneyland?

The first baby was born inside the theme park in 1979. Parents Rosa and Elias Salcedo unexpectedly welcomed their daughter, Teresa, at the Happiest Place on Earth – but she didn't receive a lifetime park pass!

Despite the popular urban legend that "many" babies have been born at Disneyland, there is only one officially documented birth inside the park. On July 4, 1979, Teresa Salcedo was born in the First Aid station at Disneyland in Anaheim. Her mother, Rosa Salcedo, went into labor while visiting the park, and Teresa was delivered by the park’s nursing staff. To celebrate the occasion, Disney presented the family with "Disney Birth Certificate No. 1." Contrary to persistent rumors, Teresa did not receive a lifetime pass to Disneyland, although she was reportedly gifted a large stuffed Mickey Mouse and has returned for various anniversary celebrations. While there have been a handful of other births at Disney parks worldwide (including at Disneyland Paris), they remain extremely rare events. Disney's medical teams are highly trained for emergencies, but the "lifetime pass" reward is a myth; typically, families receive a special certificate and perhaps a commemorative gift, but the park's primary focus remains on safely transporting the mother to a nearby hospital.
