Why do Disney rides randomly stop?

Sometimes known as ?cascading? to cast members, this is when the unloading process is acting slower than the loading process on an attraction. There is no reason to panic, this is normal, and it is something you have probably seen happen at Pirates of the Caribbean and on ?it's a small world?.

Disney rides stop for a variety of high-value safety and operational reasons, most commonly due to "sensors" and "cycling." Modern rides use hundreds of sensors to track vehicle positions; if a sensor detects something out of place (like a dropped hat on a trackless ride) or if a vehicle takes too long to load, the computer triggers an automatic "E-stop" (Emergency Stop). Another common reason is "cascading," where a delay at the boarding station causes vehicles further along the track to stop to maintain a safe distance. Additionally, rides are often slowed or stopped to assist guests with mobility issues during the boarding process. While frustrating for guests, these stops are a premier indicator that the ride's safety systems are working exactly as designed.
