Why does the Disney Skyliner stop sometimes?

This probably seems obvious, but the weather can and does affect the Skyliner and how it operates. When it's raining hard or storming, it can close down completely. This is especially true if there is lightning!

This transportation system might have a temporary closure in early 2024. Disney hasn't made any announcements yet, but we saw refurbishment closures in both 2022 and 2023. In 2022, the Skyliner was closed from January 23rd through January 28th, and in 2023 it was closed from January 22nd through the 29th.

Are there long lines to board Skyliner? During the morning and evening rush lines can be as long as 15 to 20 minutes at the Caribbean Beach station. Transportation at Walt Disney World whether you're waiting for a bus, monorail, boat or gondola, will usually be about 20 minutes when the parks are opening and closing.

As long as you can get to one of the stations, you can ride the Skyliner for fun. You cannot stay on the Skyliner round trip though, you will have to get off and back on at a stop. There are crowds and guests will line up well in advance of when the Skyliner starts running to ensure that they can get where they're going. There's also the problem [at some stations] of guests being unable to board, because those who got on at an earlier station are already occupying the Skyliner vehicles.

Skyliner gondolas can hold up to ten passengers without a wheelchair, ECV, or stroller on board. With one of these, capacity drops to six passengers. Strollers can remain open with a child riding in them as long as they fall within the maximum size requirements: 30? x 48?.

Anyone can ride the Skyliner; you don't have to be staying at a Disney Resort. Probably the easiest way to catch a ride on the Skyliner (if you aren't staying at a resort with a station or if you are staying offsite) is to board at either Hollywood Studios or Epcot.
