Since Disney opted to close Blizzard Beach for summer 2023, we're assuming they'll only have one water park open at a time in the near future. Blizzard Beach got a holiday treatment in 2022 and we expect that to return in 2023.

September is one of the Frog Family's favorite times of the year to visit thanks to thinner crowds. In most years, the two biggest and best events at the Walt Disney World Resort (at least in our opinion) — Halloween and the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival — are in full swing during September.
In the winter, any date outside of the busy weeks of Christmas and New Year's can be fairly quiet. A trip at this time of year also has the added bonus of cooler temperatures — or, to superfans, Spirit Jersey weather. Disney World's least busy month, though, is almost always September.
September used to be a great month for exceptionally low crowds. It's still low season, but it has been a little busier in recent years with so many new attractions to experience. Lines will be manageable most of September and the parks will be a lot less crowded than the summer months.

If you have a child between the ages of 5-12, Blizzard Beach is by far the winner in my book. BB's Ski Patrol Training Camp has experiences aimed specifically at the elementary school set that Typhoon Lagoon can't match.
Blizzard Beach is open year-round with an annual maintenance closure in the winter. During the closure, its sister park, Typhoon Lagoon, will remain open. The majority of the major attractions at the park are hosted atop of Mount Gushmore, an artificial hill with an elevation of 90 feet (27.4 m).
Disney's Blizzard Beach is closed indefinitely, though we can expect it to return sometime in early 2024. We hope to see both water parks operate normally at the same time very soon! Of course, Guests can still enjoy Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, as well as Disney Springs.
Some 6-year-olds may be tall enough to experience all the rides, while others might just miss the height requirements. When it comes to best Disney parks for a 6-year-old, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are often the top choices.
Generally speaking, we find that Blizzard Beach has a few more daring thrill rides than Typhoon Lagoon, but if you're getting the Park Hopper Plus Option, then there is no reason not to visit both at least once during your trip!
