Express Pass at VB is VITAL on busy days. I rarely buy UXP for the other parks, but it's a must there. If you've never been or used the Tapu Tapu system it's great, but on very busy days it can't handle the crowds. Buying UXP eliminates that.

Do we need some cheapie slides/flip flops for the park? Yes, get some water shoes. They have places to leave them at the bottom of the slides. It's not 100% necessary because there are lots of water sprinklers across the paths.
Is the water heated at Volcano Bay? Yes, of course! Almost every water slide, pool, and lazy (or not-so-lazy) river is fully heated to at least 80 degrees, which is what allows the water park to remain open almost every day of the year.
