Are they building Disneyland in Oklahoma?

A new theme park is coming to the heartland of our country. It's appropriately going to be called American Heartland and is going to cost about $2 billion to build in northeast Oklahoma, right on The Main Street of America and Mother Road, Route 66.

No, there is no official Disneyland being built in Oklahoma. However, the confusion stems from the American Heartland Theme Park and Resort, a $2 billion project announced for Vinita, Oklahoma. While not a Disney property, it was designed by former Disney Imagineers and is comparable in scale to the Magic Kingdom. As of 2026, the project has faced significant delays; originally slated for a phased opening starting this year, construction hurdles and land permit complications have pushed the estimated opening date of the theme park back to 2029 or later. Once completed, it is expected to feature six Americana-themed lands, a 300-room hotel, and a large-scale RV park, aiming to become a major tourism hub in the heart of the Midwest along Route 66.
