Can I transfer my Lufthansa miles to someone else?

Lufthansa has launched a new feature via the Miles & More mobile app – the ability to transfer your miles to someone else for a ludicrous price.

Under the Lufthansa Miles & More program rules in 2026, you cannot directly "transfer" miles from your account to another person's account to be combined or saved by them. The miles you earn are strictly for your individual use. However, the program offers a high-value alternative called Mileage Pooling. This feature allows two adults and up to five children to link their accounts into a "pool," where all earned award miles are combined into a shared balance that any of the members can spend on award flights or upgrades. If you do not wish to use a pool, you can still "use" your miles for someone else by booking an award ticket in their name using your own miles. While you cannot give the miles themselves as a currency for them to save, you have full flexibility to spend your balance on family or friends. Additionally, SWISS credit card holders in the Miles & More program can occasionally exchange award miles for status-qualifying points, but the core "award miles" remain non-transferable as a raw asset.
