Corona Arch Hiking Trail | Discover Moab. Few hikes reach an ending as awe inspiring as the Corona Arch trail. The one and a half mile out-and-back trail consists of red rock cairns, safety cables, ladder climbing, and concludes with the tremendous 140 foot wide Corona Arch.

Most online estimates suggest that the Corona Arch hike takes about 2 hours on average. We added on a visit to Pinto Arch–more on that below–and took a couple of very long breaks to enjoy the views of each arch. With those caveats, we still exited the trail just under 3 hours after we started.

This is also a good hike to do if you have a dog and can't hit the National Park trails or you're only visiting for a day and don't want to pay the entrance fees (or wait in line to get in…). Whatever your reason, hiking the Corona Arch trail is absolutely worth it.

There is a long section of open slickrock about halfway into the hike. There are cairns that guide the way up to Delicate Arch. Do be aware that when you get close to the Arch there is a 4 or 5 foot wide ledge with a significant drop-off. If you have a fear of heights that part of the hike can be scary.

The trail soon reaches Corona Arch, is 140 feet (42.6m) wide by 105 feet (32m) high – making it significantly bigger than Delicate Arch, the largest arch in Arches National Park (which is 46 feet / 14m high and 32 feet / 10m wide).

Best Time To Hike to Corona Arch There is no shade along the hike, so in the hotter months, you'll want to hit the trail in the very early morning or early evening to avoid the heat of the day. The bonus of that, though, is sunrise and sunset are beautiful times to photograph Corona Arch.

For those who aren't up for the hike, there are two other viewing options: The Lower Delicate Arch Viewpoint just down the road only requires a 100-yard walk over flat ground to get a fine look at the arch from a mile away.

This trail is strenuous and the arch is not visible until the end of the trail. For an easier view, try Delicate Arch Viewpoints. Hike Description: Avoid this hike during midday summer heat. This trail climbs up a steep slickrock slope with no shade and some exposure to heights.
