Can you do Grindelwald and Jungfrau in one day?

You can get to the top of Switzerland's Jungfrau mountain in one of the most scenic journeys of your entire Swiss visit, while on the same big day you can find time for several easy hikes and scenic rides by train and cable car, enjoying some of the world's finest sights, walking Grindelwald's glacier gulch, and ...

It is entirely possible to visit both Grindelwald and Jungfraujoch in a single day, especially if you utilize the "V-Cableway" system. A popular itinerary starts with an early morning ascent to Jungfraujoch from the Grindelwald Terminal via the Eiger Express. By spending 3 to 4 hours at the summit exploring the Sphinx Observatory, the Ice Palace, and the Plateau, you can be back down in the Grindelwald valley by early afternoon. This leaves you with several hours to explore the village of Grindelwald, take the "First" cable car up to see the Cliff Walk, or enjoy a traditional Swiss lunch with a view of the Wetterhorn. Because the Eiger Express has drastically reduced travel times, you no longer have to spend the entire day purely in transit. However, to make this work, you should start your journey no later than 8:30 AM. For a "full circle" experience, many travelers go up via Grindelwald and come back down via Wengen and Lauterbrunnen, allowing them to see both sides of the mountain in one day. While it is a long day with a lot of walking, the efficiency of the Swiss transport network makes it one of the most rewarding day trips in the Bernese Oberland for those with a limited schedule.
