Can you earn Hilton points through Amex?

Earn Hilton points with credit cards American Express currently offers several cobranded Hilton Honors credit cards: three personal cards and one business card. These cards can be an excellent way to earn Hilton Honors points on travel and everyday purchases. New cardmembers may be eligible to earn a welcome bonus.

You can absolutely earn Hilton Honors points through American Express, and it is currently one of the fastest ways to accumulate them. The most direct method is through co-branded Hilton Honors American Express cards, such as the Surpass, Aspire, or the standard No-Fee card. These cards earn points directly for every dollar spent, with massive multipliers for Hilton hotel stays (up to 14x points per dollar on the Aspire card). Beyond co-branded cards, Hilton is a 1:1 transfer partner for the Amex Membership Rewards program. This means if you have a card like the Amex Gold or Platinum, you can move your "Amex points" over to your Hilton Honors account. Frequently, there are promotional periods where Amex offers a 30% to 50% bonus on these transfers, effectively making the ratio 1:1.5 or even 1:2. This flexibility allows travelers to supplement their Hilton balance using everyday spending on groceries, dining, or flights, making it easy to reach the "5th Night Free" benefit on award stays.

Personally I value Amex points at ~1.7 cents each, while I value Hilton Honors points at ~0.5 cents each. Based on my valuation of points and the 1:2.6 transfer ratio, you're getting about 1.3 cents of value per Amex point. While not amazing, that's also not terrible, and for many this could prove to be worthwhile.
