Can you join virtual queue at 7 and 1?

When Can I Join the Virtual Queue? Disney World opens its Virtual Queues at 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM each day. Spots in the virtual queue go quickly, so we recommend that you tap quickly and join the queue immediately at one of these times.

As of 2026, the rules for joining a virtual queue at Walt Disney World and Disneyland are very specific: you can generally only hold one virtual queue at a time for a single attraction, but the 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM drops offer different opportunities. For the 7:00 AM drop, you can join from anywhere (your hotel, your home, etc.) as long as you have a valid park reservation or a valid ticket for that day. If you are unsuccessful at 7:00 AM, you have a second chance at 1:00 PM, but you must be physically inside the theme park where the attraction is located to join that afternoon drop. If you successfully joined at 7:00 AM and have already ridden the attraction before 1:00 PM, the system generally will not allow you to join again for the same ride, as Disney usually limits virtual queue access to once per guest, per day. However, if there are two different rides using virtual queues (e.g., Guardians of the Galaxy and Tiana's Bayou Adventure), you may be able to hold a spot for one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, provided you have already "tapped in" for your first ride. This system is designed to distribute demand fairly across the day's attendance.

The 6 pm virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle Run during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party has been filling up almost instantly. We're talking under 10 seconds for all of the parties thus far, which is fairly comparable to Extended Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom.

The attraction's limited capacity means too many guests missing their reservation time could prevent guests later in the day from riding, so guests are encouraged to arrive during their reservation window. Those who miss their window by a significant time may not be allowed to ride the attraction.

Once your boarding group is called, you have 60 minutes to scan in at the attraction's entrance. In my experience, late arrivals are not permitted. There is a second opportunity to join the virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle / Run at 1:00 p.m. each day.

Most Guests have two chances to get a boarding group: 7 am and 1 pm. You do not have to be in the park for the 7 am attempt, but you DO need to have checked into Magic Kingdom for the 1 pm option.

Virtual Queue Basics If a ride has a virtual queue setup, that means there will NOT be a “standard” queue you can just stand and wait in. Instead, you will need to try to sign up for a virtual queue spot (sometimes called a “boarding group”) if you want to get on the ride.

The Virtual Queue, Defined Some places may not have a visible line but have people check in, then sit or stand in a defined (or undefined) waiting area. A virtual queue is a line of people who are waiting in order but are not forced to wait in a designated space.

A big part of the TRON Lightcycle Run experience is the outdoor canopy. Not only does the attraction look better at night, but the story makes a bit more sense. This is definitely one attraction that is superior at night.

Select one member of your party to access the virtual queue to check for an available boarding group for everyone in your party. If multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue simultaneously, that may inhibit your ability to join a group.

Yes. Guests who get a Boarding Group for TRON during regular hours are still eligible to enter the Virtual Queue at 6 p.m. on days when Extended Evening Hours are offered. If you get an Individual Lightning Lane too, this could give you three rides on TRON in a single day!

MORE DETAILS

You can only join each ride's virtual queue once per day. You cannot hold a Boarding Group for multiple attractions at the same time.

There are several reasons why Walt Disney World deliberately inflates wait times. First, it's good for guest satisfaction–an extension of the ole “underpromise and overdeliver” mantra. It's surprisingly simple: guests will be happy if they wait less time than is advertised, but unhappy if they wait longer.
