Paying for your ticketIf paying by cash, make sure you have coins with you before getting on the bus. You will need to have the exact money as our drivers cannot give you change (except on Airlink). Please keep your ticket for the duration of your journey.
London buses are all cashless, so you need an Oyster card, Travelcard or contactless payment card to ride. Bus fare is £1.75, and a day of bus-only travel will cost a maximum of £5.25.

Why have I been charged 10p/£1? If you use a Mastercard, your bank statement may show a “pending” 10p or £1 charge for your first tap (10p for UK Mastercards, £1 for International Mastercards). This is just a temporary charge to check the card is valid – we do not collect the payment.

You can pay for your ticket with cash or by debit or credit card at any of our 143 staffed station ticket offices. We aim to serve customers within five minutes at peak times, and three minutes at off-peak times, so give yourself enough time to buy a ticket.
