Can you rent a golf cart at Fort Wilderness if you are not staying there?

I am happy to share golf carts are available to rent for all visitors. You do not need to be staying at the resort. They may be rented up to a year in advance by calling (407) 824-2742.

Officially, Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground prioritizes golf cart rentals for guests staying at the resort's campsites or cabins. To secure a rental in advance, guests are required to call Disney Recreation and provide their resort reservation details. In 2026, while unreserved carts may occasionally be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Outpost, they are extremely difficult for "day guests" or non-resort guests to obtain, especially during peak seasons. Disney has tightened these rules to ensure that the quiet and structured environment of Fort Wilderness isn't overwhelmed by excessive cart traffic. If you are not staying at the resort but are visiting for a dining reservation (like the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue), you are encouraged to use the internal bus system to get around. Additionally, third-party golf cart rental companies are prohibited from delivering carts to Disney property. If you are a guest from another Disney resort, your best chance for a cart is to walk up to the rental desk at the Outpost and check for last-minute availability, but you should not count on it as part of your planning unless you have a confirmed Fort Wilderness stay.
