Do you get magic bands if you stay off property?

If you aren't staying at a Disney-owned resort you can still use a Magic Band, though what you can do with it is limited. If you're staying ?off property? you can use a Magic Band as your park admission, to check in for Lightning Lanes, access the Disney World Virtual Queue, and for Photo Pass.

In 2026, guests staying at off-property hotels do not receive complimentary MagicBands, as Disney has shifted toward a "purchase-only" model for most guests. However, off-property guests can still use MagicBands by purchasing them at the parks, Disney Springs, or online and linking them to their "My Disney Experience" account. Once linked, the MagicBand or MagicBand+ will function for park entry and Lightning Lane check-ins just like it does for resort guests. The only major feature off-property guests cannot use is "charging to the room," as that requires a direct link to a Disney Resort hotel account. Alternatively, off-property guests can use the free MagicMobile service on their smartphones or a physical "Key to the World" card for entry if they prefer not to buy a band.
