Do your trains have to connect in ticket to ride?

The routes score points by themselves, as mentioned above, but routes not connected to a player's destination do not help them reach the destination or complete their destination ticket. The key to the game is getting the routes connected.

A Train Station allows its owner to use one, and only one, of the routes belonging to another player, into (or out of) that city to help him connect the cities on his Destination Tickets.

Look through your hand of Destination Tickets. Strategize ways to complete a continuous path between the cities to connect them and earn the points listed on the card. For example, if you have the “Los Angeles to New York” destination card, you can earn 21 points by connecting them with a continuous path.

The highest-scoring routes are Seattle to New York (22 points), Los Angeles to New York (21 points), Los Angeles to Miami (20 points), and Vancouver to Montreal (20 points).
